WHEN THE MUSE LEAVES

“Muse! muse! Daughter of Heaven
Why then do you leave?
Oh! listen to my plea
Without you life has no poetry
Come back. Without you I am mute and blind
I see only a glimmer
I hear only a murmur
I don’t understand the language of creatures
I find no name
For the colors of sky and sea
I find no name
For the earth’s forms
Without you every being is mute
I no longer sound the great harp.
Muse come back…Hear my cry
Come back! I’ll build you a throne
In the highest part of my heart
And at your feet I shall sit
To hear you talking
And singing.”
